Sample of books designed for Simon & Schuster
A book based on my travels in Italy and the signage and ephemera found during the adventure. The background texture was created by plotting the location of each item and then connecting them to each other to create an abstract representation. This abstract map shifts on each pages depending on where the item was found and to create a fluid and dynamic background. Certain traditional book elements such as folio and running head were omitted on purpose because the book is no necessarily meant to be read in order, mimicking the way in which the design was found.
